The Fluid Power Lab (LIV) of the Enzo Ferrari Department of Engineering was established in 2010, bringing together in a physical location within the Department the skills and activities that have always been carried out in the field of fluid power at the Department. The LIV welcomes thesis, research fellows and doctoral students interested in furthering their education through research, modeling and simulation activities of hydraulic and pneumatic systems and components. Currently, there are two Ph.D. students from the Ph.D. program in Mechanical and Vehicle Engineering, two research fellows, three thesis students doing their work at the laboratory while another 6 thesis students are doing curricular internships at companies in the industry, supervised for the development part of the thesis work by the LIV staff. On average, the number of thesis students who decide to undertake activities in the field of hydraulics is about thirty per year and they come from both the Master of Science in Mechanical Engineering and the Master of Science in Vehicle Engineering and finally from the Master of Science Advanced Automotive Engineering course of Muner - Motor Vehicle University of Emilia Romagna. The group's professors have always been committed to training students in Modena's engineering degree programs so that they have the skills to work in the field of Hydraulics and Pneumatics, trying to decline the knowledge needed for both the industrial and mobile (agricultural machines, earth moving machines, cars, high performance cars, trucks and buses) appliations.
